Melbourne Zoo is an awesome place to visit any day of the year! There are many types of animals in large, creative enclosures which are really cool to see!
Back in July 2019, my family and I visited the Melbourne Zoo. During the time, they had a special, limited-edition dinosaur exhibition!
One of the first things my family and I saw once inside was a ginormous egg! And beside it… a sign…

Thankfully, we are zoo members!
Then, we went on to pass the tapirs, baboons and zebras, before reaching the lemurs. On this trip, I did not take any photos of these animals. Many of them were hiding or sunbathing, doing their best to stay warm!

Then, we went into the Carousel Park, which had temporarily been transformed into a Dino Park! We had just made it to one of their Dino talks. There were loads of people, especially little kids and their families!
The keeper spoke about dinosaurs and how they went extinct, and how not all of them had actually died out – some of them survived and evolved into birds! Just imagine that – all the birds you see flying by are actually decedents of dinosaurs!
Then, we all had to call out a puppeteer to come bring one of the dinos to life! It was really cool, and if you put the back of your hand out the dinosaur would come and sniff it – then you could give them a good scratch! People from the audience were even asked to come up and do things like brush the dino’s teeth!

There were also a couple of smaller dinosaur puppets who looked like dinosaurs that had actually roamed the grounds of Victoria millions of years ago!

After the talk was over and we had admired the dinos for a lengthy period of time, we went on to watch the seal show. One of the best things about the seal show is that they are never the same – they are always a bit different! Different seals, different keepers, different accessories, different speeches!

At the end of the show, they actually turned on a bubble machine which produced A LOT of bubbles!

There were also some penguins around the corner! Melbourne Zoo now has two types of penguins – Little Penguins and Fiordland Penguins! The Little Penguins were nowhere to be seen, but I did manage to capture a couple of photos of the Fiordland Penguins.

It was a pretty chilly day, so we decided the Butterfly House is the next place to go!

The otters were hiding in between some rocks…

The meerkats were on high alert…

The old tortoise was having a rest inside…

And this cheeky bird was trying to bite my fake nails off!

Eventually our day at the Zoo had come to an end, but I was very satisfied with the visit!
